Stop the rot! Help decrease waste and increase access to fresh food in our community by taking part in this important harvest event! Join students from the UC Davis Arboretum and Public Garden’s Learning by Leading Program and the ASUCD Fresh Focus Program Friday, June 10 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. to harvest produce from a student-planted, educational-use field just west of the Student Farm. (REGISTER here.)
Professor Muhammad Marrush, who teaches Plant Sciences 5 – Plants for Garden, Orchard and Landscape – uses this field to provide students with hands-on experience cultivating plants for food as well as establishing and maintaining a vegetable garden. Now this beautiful produce is ready to eat, but we need your help with the harvest!
The last time this field was harvested, at the end of January 2016, it yielded more than a ton of fresh vegetables that were then distributed via Yolo Food Bank’s various open distribution programs. LEARN MORE
